go on /movies/ and post genuine criticism of the industry and the post will be flooded with dozens of comments with the same canned responses to deflect criticism. it's been like that for years.
the tv guide in the 80s and 90s was more scathing that anything you'll see out of professional journalism these days.

Understudies played the women's parts. It was illegal to hire women to appear on stage of I recall. Wasn't about who's "best".
