My wife told me something similar almost a decade ago: "you can't speak like that to people you love!". It's been lodged in my head ever since, and it certainly helps.

My last partner screamed at me during an argument and instead of deciding to inform them about how it's not cool to argue in front of potential future children, I just left and didn't go back.

Adult relationships aren't free from arguments, but they should absolutely be free of screaming at each other like children

I agree, but I also think some grace should be given to allow people to break old habits and build new ones. I don't think this alone should be the deciding factor, if they agree to work on it. It may be the final straw though.

For me personally, I yell far easier than I'd like when arguing. It's something I learned from my parents. I know it's bad, but it still happens sometimes. I do it less frequently than I used to at least. Maybe someday it'll be near zero...
