i always figured the blue paint was like an advanced blue light filter (amplifier?), or something. like, the adept ritually applies the blue bodypaint before suffering to pick up the bobilek.
turns out religion was poor protection.
maybe the adept lacked sufficient faith, thus had low-tier spiritual armor?
