B.C.'s main energy provider says it has chosen Vancouver Island to house the province's first battery energy storage project, which will allow energy to be saved up and used during peak times.
The project will be located at the Vancouver Island Terminal Substation near Duncan, according to B.C. Hydro.
The utility says it will launch the procurement process for the project by the end of July, with expectations that it will be in service by 2030.

Awesome news. We need these all over the place, and theyll only get easier and cheaper to build as time goes on. Its usually a perfect fit for existing substations as well as BC Hydro will often already own the land with enough space for installations of various sizes.
