Kinbozan gets a deep inside grip but Daiseizan lifts the big man, and when Kinbo goes for a drive Daisei lifts and pivots him 180, putting him in position for the force out.
Nishikifuji gets good position off the lines and takes Onokatsu to the bales, but he hangs on dancing with one foot braced until he can come back to the center. Nishi goes for a pull and swings his body low and comes up with another underhand grip and when he drives this time Ono hangs on with one foot again briefly but gets forced out.

Asakoryu blocks Mitakeumi from getting a belt grip, and when he goes for a pull down Asa uses his speed to step inside an run the big boy across the ring and out.
Chiyoshoma puts a palm in Takerufuji's face off the tachiai, but Take ignores it, gets an inside left outside right grip, and disorients Chiyo by swinging him around 270 degrees, followed by driving him back and shoving him off the dohyo. Takerufuji looking extremely solid here.
Kazuma collapses after the initial hit by Wakamotoharu. Bit of the old slippy-otoshi.
Abi gives Kotoeiho a quick left hand slap to the face as he jumps to his left and pulls his neck with his right. Koto recovers at the straw and drops Abi with a kirikaeshi (backwards knee trip).
Papayasu stays in solid position and keeps up the advancing tsuppari until the Monkey is forced off the ring.
Shodai takes an inside right grip against Roga but can't do much with it. Roga goes for a quick pull that breaks Shodai's balance and Roga ends up behind for the rear force out.
Fujiryoga and Oshoma slap each other in the face and throat until Oshoma's pull down goes nowhere and Fuji pushes him over the edge.

On recovery Hosho is high and Aoni finds a deep inside right and outside left he uses for the overhand throw to send the yokozuna tumbling. He's put himself in good position for the yusho this tournament.
Daieisho is driven back by Onosato's tsuppari and as he reaches the bales he goes for the utchari. It's enough to get Ono up and falling but not enough leverage as Daiei crashes to the clay with the yokozuna on top of him and then rolling off the ring.
Aonishiki and Kotoeiho at 9-2 with 5 men nipping at their heels with 8.
Hiradoumi stands Ura up off the lines with a forearm to the face and gets an inside grip but as Ura fights back inside Hira goes for a thrust that gets parried, sending him flying off balance and he staggers a few steps before falling.
you forgot to mention Ura's surprised dance after H's fall.
This was the highlight of the day for me, as both my man Shishi and Hakinofuji picked up losses.
Lots of great matches with some interesting outcomes. I saw a lot of things I hadn't seen before, and I enjoyed some of the guys beating people they'd never beaten before.
My wife has been watching some of the tournament with me, and she's at least getting a little into it. She's starting to learn a few rikishi and making occasional comments on things.
Some of them have long names so I find that nicknames help (and are funny). Some of the ones I use with my friends are just direct translations of the kanji, so even though a lot of people call Takayasu Papa(yasu), I sometimes call him "High Cheap". Tobizaru is literally Flying Monkey. The yokozuna are Rich Rising Dragon and Big Village, and Kirishima is Foggy Island.
There is a mix of nicknames and also muwashi color recognition for the ones with brighter colors like Ura and Ichiyamamoto. She's also remembering things like Abi is the face slapping guy.
I've got most of the names at this point and trying to get down the face that goes with the name for a few that I don't know as well.
We've got a few gyoji nicknamed at this point also. There's Strawberry Shortcake that has the very pink outfit and The Goose that has the higher pitched, honky sounding voice.
yeah looks like he got bonked on the top of the head and was off-balance (not fully extended).
Kotoeiho ... drops Abi with a kirikaeshi (backwards knee trip).
nicely done... Kotoeiho checked up on Abi afterwards, which was class.
Daieisho is driven back by Onosato’s tsuppari and as he reaches the bales he goes for the utchari.
Onosato still looking strong. Hopefully this means he's getting consistent again.
Aonishiki blocks Hoshoryu’s right belt grip
One of the best match-ups of the basho. It's over in under seven seconds and there's a lot going on in terms of grip and balance. Congrats to Aonishiki, looking good!

Two hands up and do a little hop! That's how you do the Ura Dance!
I'ma do that at the next metal show I go to.
