Have you confused anti-consumer (doing something that harms people buying goods and services) with anti-consumerist (being against the buying and selling of goods and services)? Lemmy is not anti-consumer. It's the opposite almost always. It is frequently anti-capitalist or anti-consumerist though. These are not the same thing.
I can't speak for Jess, but personally I'd love a reply to Cethin's comment. Did you confuse "anti-consumer" with "anti-consumerism"? Because honestly that's the only way I can see that your comments make sense.

Pro-consumerism is not the same thing as pro-consumer.

I have to admire the human capacity to rationalise contradiction.

Judging by your creative spelling, dissonance must be pretty bad for you. 😂

Someone on Lemmy: says something
Someone else on Lemmy: says something different
OP: "OMG Lemmy can't make up its mind"

Sony wanted / wants to stop making physical media.
Lemmy goes up in arms that this is anticonsumer
Then goes right back to being anticonsumer themselves.
I found it funny that the usual cries of how bad buying things from big business is stopped because they wanted to buy things from a bit business.
Not that Sony are the good guys in this story. Only that Lemmy became the funny guys

I still don't understand. What thing did people start being anti-consumer with? You didn't explain that.

Lemmy the developers, or some people on Lemmy who you think are representative of the entire platform?
essell@lemmy.world · -10 pts · 34d
Can't possibly say.
I'm talking about the vibe and theme of the platform itself, not any particular people or group. How could I possibly get that data?

Wtf is with this coy nonsense? Are you a troll or something?
essell@lemmy.world · -6 pts · 34d
If I were a troll I'd have something clever to reply to you but I don't know what you're after here.
