O'Brien MD

And it's just Colm Meaney randomly walking around hospitals being rude, sassy and sarcastic to patients, popping liver regrowth pills because of his drinking.

Liver regrowth pills, infused with scotch flavoring.

I'm loving that unhinged slight smile he's got.

must be why they called him "smiley" in the alt universe.

man did i hate that doctor/warrior whatever in whatever star trek that was, to intense, convoluted and frankly with his PTSD shouldnt be on ship in that senior compacity. Or perhaps I only see that actor doing that feral screaming from the first Dune

I absolutely love Dr. Mbenga.

Every single person in starfleet has PTSD that just gets ignored, they couldn't possibly be well adjusted with everything they experience. Some just don't hide it as well.

I only remember one episode where he does anything I'd consider not befitting of a Dr, but considering how many doctors we see defend the ship and crew with force, I'm okay with it.

I definitely see a little bit of Jamis from Dune every so often, but I also say that about a lot of actors who play roles on multiple shows/movies, so that one might be me.

Sometimes it's weird to rememer that Uhura (Kenya), M'Benga (Kenya), and LaForge (Somalia) are the only three main cast members I can think of in the Star Trek franchise from the entire continent of Africa.
