Sisko was only fine with those deaths because the aliens that died either were green, or had green blood. The Commander's a racist, and I hear a human supremacist. Name one green alien he has on staff. You can't.
So I’ve realized that Deep Space Nine features the fewest Vulcans of any classic Star Trek series.
And when Vulcans do appear on Deep Space Nine, they are usually maligned (Maquis agents, distant Admirals, opposing baseball teams).
Romulans actually feature more prominently, and there was almost a Romulan series regular (the Romulan adviser who allowed the Defiant to have a cloak). But they ended up becoming cannon-fodder aliens during times of war, even when they allied with the Federation.
I don’t think Sisko hated “green-blooded hobgoblins,” I think the writers did.
DS9 probably has the greatest species diversity among the regular characters. Only 3 of the 8 regulars are human. (4 / 9 if you count Jake, who is in the title sequence credits, but he’s only in 40% of the episodes.)

I giggle when I see every version of this meme, but this one is my favorite because of how you can see the light going out of his eyes.

Sisko was kinda badass. Then you get to Janeway’s final stand. That woman was all out of fucks.
