OK, "luxury" is pushing it, but I like the flip out keypad, the backlit display, and that it uses a 9V battery which means I can use a USB battery instead of disposable coin cells.
The stainless steel surface is easy to clean, and the readout isn't blocked by the thing you're weighing.
I don't know, what do you think? Good deal?

That thing looks awesome for less than $7.
My kitchen scale boasts a rechargeable battery, a timer mode, and capacitive buttons that don't work if there's any moisture on it All for the low price of $245. (technically free for me though, because I stole it from the bar I worked in when I quit lol. I would never pay that much for a scale)

Hilarious story!
I already have a Starfrit scale, the one with the glass top. But it gets dirty on both sides and you can see it, but it's hard to reach under it. So that annoys me.
I admit I bought it because I thought it looked good. But anything you weigh in a bowl it hides the readout. Dumb design I should have known better.
So the scale I thrifted is overkill, it seems to have some kind of calorie calculator as well as a temperature readout. But hey, $7!
The funny thing is I used to spend money like crazy. Now I earn more than ever and I've turned into a scrap hauler...

Turns out that, in many cases, there is a reason nice-looking items end up in the goodwill/trash. The unit keeps turning itself on and off, I suppose because of the lame keypad, the button is slightly indented and I guess makes a spurious contact.
