I somewhat recently connected Emporia Vue's 'net production/consumption' metric to my OpenEVSE so I can make use of the 'eco divert' feature that only charges from excess solar production. Since my utility charges for transmission of net-metered power, this leads to some savings. When we have cooler summer weather it shows up very nicely on the graph.

I don't have an EV (yet!) but the last couple of days have been fairly cool for July and haven't had to run the A/C much. The house batteries ended up charging fully by about 2 in the afternoon. Since we can't do net metering here, any excess is just wasted right now.
When I do manage to get an EV in the next couple of years, I'd like to setup something similar to charge it when I'm producing an excess.

I used vuegraf to publish MQTT from my Emporia Vue, which OpenEVSE can natively consume. I'm running Mosquitto for my MQTT broker.
I've considered flashing my Vue with ESPHome, which people say would make this even easier, but haven't yet.
What other details would be useful?

I don't have an EV yet either, trying to figure out how to get a BYD...
But it's always a great feeling when you hear the "please set your thermostat to 80°" pleas and then look at your solar aray sending 6-8kW back to the grid and go "No...I don't think I will".

Lol. We had ours set to 74 during the previous heat wave. Wasn't sending any power back to the grid since we can't do net metering, but we weren't drawing any from it either.
