You seen the Roman graffiti from taverns and walls? Half of them are just toilet humour, much like today! It's funny how some things don't change.

Went to Pompeii years ago. Dicks on the walls. Tour guides trying to be subtle about it because there were kids in the group.

"A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To the Forum..."
Back in the 1950s there was a famous TV comic named Sid Cesar.
A couple of his writers thought it would be a great gag to have him do some actual Roman comedy, so they looked up authentic plays from the era.
The nagging wife and the henpecked husband? There. The dumb, lovestruck teenagers? There. The scheming schmoe and his dimwitted stooge? There. The sneaky businessman? There. The big bully? There.
So they made a Broadway play...

this looks like a wet plate photography. considering its inside a studio and artificial lighting wasn't as bright as the sun and those 'film' have ridiculously low iso. to get an image like that the dog have to stay still for minutes. so that dog already dead and its a taxidermy.
