This ain’t funny. This guy runs a network of borderline illegal social media accounts. I’ve posted about him on Reddit before and have encountered him here. You can find traces of him all over the internet see this
He posts a lot of pics of boys wearing dresses. He makes AI images of boy actors from obscure tv shows in ballerina or princess dresses and claims that they are ‘deleted scenes’ that he witnessed, apparently he was actor or something, which is clearly bullshit nonsense. And yeah, there’s cannibalistic content and gore, like girl’s heads cooking in pans and things. It’s all really odd and disgusting. Someone on Reddit once theorised that either he’s a sick perv, or a really stupid troll. Idk what I think.
He posts pics of kids doing/wearing weird stuff on Pinterest, BlueSky, medium etc. I’m not going into any deeper detail that that, not publicly anyway. He links all his accounts together so you can basically find everything he posts
So, while this user (and their many reincarnations) has really impacted my enjoyment of Lemmy over the last couple of weeks, they do highlight one of the larger shortcomings of the platform. There's nothing stopping an unstable, disturbed, bored person from grinding through accounts. A problem on any platform, for sure. Though folks like this do seem to filter out in the noise of larger projects.
I don't have a solution for this. But I'm nearly to the point of tearing down my own instance.
Yeah, that tracks. Without fed-wide IP blacklists or something, I suppose it's really easy to just instance hop and be a dick. Or spin up your own and be a dick.
Allow me... To create a frontend framework that just hides content you don't want to see... Maybe even a feature that hides users too... I'll add in some keywords...
...federating block-lists is actually an interesting idea. Instances already federate posts, comments, communities, and users. An instance could publish a public block-list, and admins of other instances could "subscribe" to block-lists across the fediverse that they trust, reducing some of the redundant labor of each instance's admins maintaining their own separate block-lists. It's kind of a similar idea to ublock origin's various filter lists.
I have a bot set up to mirror instance bans from blahaj and dbzer0 to my instance- it's really convenient! (I set up monthly donations to not feel like a leach, but I didn't see them come out this month- I should fix that...)
But his posts have a certain feel to them, do they not? Sigh, I just want Fedi to be a nice supportive place. Then you get the trouble makers showing up.
There's no limit on how many accounts you can block. Mind you, he always seems to have the same screen name. Is there a way I can filter for that rather than by username?
So I just looked through the mod log. If I remember right, every one of these were the among the things he was posting, pretty sure he posted a lot more though. Can anyone corroborate this?

Story time?
cannedtuna@lemmy.world · 29 pts · 20d
No. The guy posts AI cannibalism fetish material about eating kids. That’s as far as anyone needs to go into this.
Sturgist@lemmy.ca · 29 pts · 20d
Well... that's the end of storytime for me. Night.

It’s not just that. From what I can see:

Oh that sounds like the guy I reported recently… not that I expected a ban to do much against someone of this calibre but still.

Yeah that account is an Owlbid alt. He’s been making a ton of alts and it’s like playing whack-a-mole. Dude needs to get a life

What kind of stuff does he do?

And he fabricates all these stories like ‘my son did this and that’ but all these pics allegedly of him look AI made

He'll post links to gore, too.

Give me user access to view and modify this blocklist, and you have a deal

Does that include defederation?
TherapyGary@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 2 pts · 20d
I did also copy their combined defed lists, but with exceptions made for multiverse and hexbear

Another day, another username to block. See you again tomorrow, dickhead.

Any reason for a given individual to not block him? I came aware of him last week. Tried not blocking. Decided blocking was more helpful.
chris@lemmy.grey.fail · 8 pts · 20d
He makes about six new accounts a day.

They'll get bored if we agree collectively not to engage
Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io · 11 pts · 20d
Don't feed the trolls. Again and again it's the best strategy, if one can stick with it. TY! And a happy day to you!

This is something I've got to work on. I've gone soft having cut the cord on social 15 years ago.
I've taken the bait, and I'm not proud.

i was scared for a moment that that would be a screenshot of my profile
Edit: with added context, ew, I rescind my self deprecating joke. i don't hate myself enough to compare myself to that
Almacca@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 20d
Just block him every time he pops up and move on.
