They weren't going to infinitely need graphics cards and storage. It was always temporary.
The number of AI start ups WAS the boom, now a bunch of them will crash as companies realise the AI features suck, and poison public perception.
Now we'll have a bunch of corporations with compute no one wants... A bunch of performance hardware and storage on the second hand market or worse, just being crushed and thrown in landfill.
