Hi all, I would like to find a (local) Markdown editor that has both a live editor and can also open folders of MD files like a code editor. Currently, I am using Markor, which is awesome and works just like your normal code editor, but there is no live editing.
I would prefer if the app was customisable too, like how Markor lets you change the toolbar items. Additional functionality like Markor's to-do list feature is not necessary.
Obsidian is pretty neat but is not FOSS and creates "vaults" for your notes, making them less portable (I'd rather have something that can just opens any folder of MD files)
Joplin is a really nice program too with live editing, but again, it doesn't really work like Markor where you can open any sort of folder

After a bit of testing, this looks like an awesome mobile code editor (sooo many settings, with Git support too, look at that!), but it doesn't have the relevant Markdown buttons (e.g. headers, bold, lists) and has no live editing
I'll still have it installed because it's a really cool program!
The folder view in Squircle is awesome, even better than Markor's implementation!

Oh wow, that's a code editor! I might check it out, but it could be overkill for my needs (+ does it have Markdown features?)

I use Mermark.

Unfortunately, that's a desktop app and isn't available on Android (I sometimes forget to check the community as well!)

For self hostable I use siyuan (personal db) and affine - for collaborative.

have you tried LogSeq? i'm looking for opinion on how they compare. Siyuan looks very similar, and it having a folder tree makes me happy. hoping it wouldn't be too difficult to import several hundred notes from LS

It's important for me to have a web UI. Afaik logseq does not have web ui

Sorry, I should have specified, I'm looking for a local editor. I sync the files between devices with Syncthing
