Why are these articles commonly written as if their findings are a shock, large companies will consistently act against the public good because they are constructed to value maximised profit over any other consideration or moral outlook. If it was legal to wantonly kill puppies and made a profit they would be setting up giant puppy killing factories. Worst, given that it is not legal if it made a profit they would still quietly open smaller facilities with strategies to pay the fines if discovered.

Meta is the culprit. I don't like most of the stuff coming out of China any more than any of the stuff coming from Russia or the US currently. Even if the code came from an advertising partner in China, that still means that someone at Meta approved the code.

Meta may not be the only culprit, but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't be calling for 110% fines for every corporation from now on. You break the law, you pay 110% of the profit you made by breaking the law. That's all we have to do to end this C-suite mob rule.
