i wish we could start making beautiful structures again. so much modern construction is the same soulless corporate boxes over and over with no consideration for human use of the space at all. just pure unadulterated real estate value maxing.

But that's so subjective. I happen to think brutalism is very pleasing and I like function (especially architectural function but also other infrastructure) to be exposed or even featured; most people prefer facades and concealed function. I think most "beautiful structures" in the modern context are bullshit manipulation through the aesthetic.
