The film opened at the Odeon Marble Arch on 18 December 1980.[6] The film did well when it was released in the United Kingdom, but the collapse of the distribution company ITC prevented a theatrical release in the United States.[3] The movie's American premiere was on television, as part of The CBS Late Movie series, on December 3, 1982.
