It is certainly enough to justify a leave of absence right now, during training camp, when nobody is paying attention to him anyway. He's not fired yet, with a contrite enough apology he could save his job.
Losing your cushy television job (which hasn't even happened yet) is not quite "destroying". I don't think his kids are in any danger of going hungry....
