Depends on what. LLMs, sure, but AI models, called neural networks before, have been in use in a lot of physics simulations for a long time. At its base, it's a huge number cruncher. How you crunch the numbers makes rhe difference.
Indeed, I meant mostly LLMs, but also image generating AIs. I don't know of they have much in common in the way they work, but what is commonly described as generative AI.
They are responsible for A) the hype and B) the horrible bullshit, mayhem and destruction being visited on the world ever since their spread.
I said "hampered any practical use" not "no practical use" maybe I should have left out the "any" but I never said absolutes, hampered means it's been made difficult.

I think you may have eaten a bit too much of the "AI" bullshit.
Spoken like someone who hasn't used them. They can be wrong and require care and thought when being used but calling them "bullshit machines" is just lazy and inaccurate.
