Beavers helping to reduce drought with wetlands

Beavers are helping to create wetland areas during dry and hot weather, according to a researcher.

Dr Alan Puttock, from the University of Exeter in Devon, said dams and ponds created by the mammals held water, slowed its flow and provided refuge for wildlife struggling in the parched countryside.

More than half of England is in drought as hot and dry temperatures impact water supplies.
