They are quality bricklaying guide line, I've found that stuff is pretty robust. Used a set of the same stuff for my camping setup for some seven years and not one has failed (and nature has tried!). This use is obviously very different, they're out in the open all the time, so more than anything I'm getting practical experience whether the stuff is sufficient.
The tripod is wooden, it'll be finished in three years, so no sense in guying it with steel. If the mesh proves useful to the community, I'll build better - the same design but out of aluminium.

How long do the guy wires last? They look like nylon but hopefully are some kind of coated stainless or at least galvanized steel.
