The dream of having a mechanical maid to clean your home is real … sort of. San Francisco residents can now hire a robot cleaner for just $30 an hour, but there's a catch. The robots are at least partially controlled by humans who are watching your home remotely.

“Each humanoid is jointly controlled by a human operator and AI,” the Tau CEO said. An AI policy is always controlling the robot’s motors, Koch explained in a LinkedIn chat, but there’s always a human involved, too.
“A human operator is always guiding that [AI] policy, sometimes directly and sometimes through higher-level instructions,” Koch said. “The balance varies by task.”
If I was an investor damn I would hand this company $50 million no question.

I could have like 5 roomba style vacuums that can be controlled online by a group of chatters. You can chose which vacuum team to be on and try and coordinate moving with the other people on the team. At the end of each day, whatever team collects the most weight wins. It'd take a while but they'd clean any space. Then once people get that down I can start throwing pennies on the ground and watch the sentient multi-consciousness vacuums fight over them. Maybe start smashing the lowest performing one at the end of the week and let the others suck up its remains to try to survive for another week.
