In this case, putting it into writing would have been the way to hide it being a crime.

How? Its the DOJs job to defend against claims. Without evidence of that happening its just Trump settling a case with himself, which is what we all knew happened, but now they have positive evidence that it did. The absence of DOJ involvement IS the evidence of a crime here.

I read the article and am still having issues understanding what this means. Did the DOJ actually do an investigation? Was there a lawsuit?
