A Rust player from Arizona is suing for $176 million after police shot and paralyzed him in a «swatting» incident. Hackers doxxed him and filed a fake call, but despite his warning, cops opened fire on sight. Who's to blame, the trolls, the officers, or the platform?
THINK ABOUT IT 🤔

Swatting at this point has become such a well-known event that officers should be aware of it and respond accordingly.
Opening fire on someone that apparently was not violent or attacking them or anything else is 100% on the cops.
Of course, I feel like the people that called in the SWAT should also be prosecuted for attempted murder. That seems reasonable to me.
But getting shot for playing a video game?
Yeah, you deserve enough money to never have to worry about money again for the rest of your life with just the bare minimum of financial prudence, and it should be the public officials that pulled the trigger who have to fund that lifestyle.
And the platform is not to blame for that at all.
It's like the old saying goes, "If you are fated to drown, you will do so, even if it is in a teaspoonful of water".
Blaming the teaspoon for it is silly.
