Of course, he's desperate because he knows he will lose the house in a proper election, so it's either full Fascist dictatorship or go to jail poor.

The depressing thing is he will never pay for his crimes. He could go to jail tomorrow, be put in solitary or on a chain gang for the rest of his life, and still not come close to paying back what he destroyed or stole - whether money, institutions, trust, standing, etc.
And many people would even accept that devil's bargain, if they could push all consequences in their life to the end when they're decrepit and demented, but do whatever they want until then. But he won't even give us that, and instead will tear the world apart to never face a single consequence, reflecting and amplifying all the consequences due to him back to us.

That happens to republicans with pretty distressing regularity. By 2007, it turned out that nobody had actually voted for Bush Jr. I look around now, and even the guy that had an 8x12' TRUMP 2024 banner in front of his house turns out to not have voted for him anymore.

We'll see after the midterms if he was right, but there are a few things that have trouble believing.
If the Dems win the Senate, there's a significant possibility Trump will be impeached for real. If he resists, it'll be a coup, plain and simple. Hegseth purged the military but I'm not sure the remaining generals will let it pass.
The rest of the article give a few other examples of blatant abuse of power that I'm not sure every Republican would be comfortable with.
I guess what I mean is there's a limit on how fast you can move the goalposts, and a "grand finale" on Trump remaining 2 years might be met with heavier resistance that the first half of his second mandate.
