I forget if that’s actual dialog. I hope it is.

The pained smile! The crushed velvet! Picard bracing for impact!

Going through a rewatch of all Trek series in release order, and I’m midway through The Animated Series.

I always knew Barrett was known as “the First Lady of Star Trek”, I just didn’t realize how much she was in each series. Having grown up with TNG and her voice as the computer (and Lwaxana of course), seeing her in TOS and even hearing her in TAS she is just so omni-present.

She was even the first officer in the pilot. An episode called The Cage that was later used for the older scenes in the episode called The Menagerie. You can also find it in its original cut as it was broadcast sometime in the 80s.

She's all over. It's great.

Spock should recognize her. After all, Nurse Chapel was pretty into him during his time

Lwaxana and Sarek were both high level diplomats. Picture them trying to make small talk at a reception.

She's frozen by his emotional outburst.

You know how some people spend a lot of time worrying about rogue asteroids, microplastics, prions, coronal mass ejections, antibiotic-resistant bacteria, or the Yellowstone super-volcano?

He needed something to occupy the "worst nightmare" part of his brain that wasn't the Borg.
