The greater awareness of this before russia inevitably tries it, the more this backfires on russia. If everyone knows this is coming than it becomes some weird violent admission by russia that Ukrainian drones are better and no fight between enemies of russia occurs.

Doesn't matter because it's propaganda that's meant to make people angry. If anything it's better if the story doesn't make too much sense because it lets folks fill in the gaps with whatever works for them.
