I know I might get buried because it's "AI", but I think they did a good job. Much better than what makeup used to do.
(They deaged Robert Downey, Jr. in Captain America: Civil War and that was before AI, so I don't think the tech is necessarily AI specific.)

I don’t know enough to know how ethically trained these models are, and I think it’s the same technology as deep fakes which have had very obvious and highly publicized abuses, but in general the digital de-aging techniques seem like one of the more legitimate and acceptable uses of the technology. It’s not always great (see the uncanny valley impact in Rogue One, although that wasn’t de-aging, it was bringing in characters originated with now-deceased actors), but when it’s done well like in Captain Marvel I feel like it enhances the storytelling.
