Don’t start wars and it won’t happen.
wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz · 1 pts · 19d
More like, if you start pointless wars for no reason, at least send your own sons and daughters to die for your vain pursuit of power, instead of the sons and daughters of the poor who only signed up to escape the poverty trap or because their entire world growing up was designed to dupe them into believing that's what heros do...
PRIMEcavitationfetishist@quokk.au · 2 pts · 19d
If you're in america and you're willing to fight a war to escape poverty, but it's NOT class war, you're a piece of shit racist Nazi bitch. You telling me to cry over Nazis getting their balls blown off?
Because I will if you get the timing and music right. That sounds hilarious.
wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz · 1 pts · 18d
You sound like you don't realize how many black and brown people there are in the US military. You make it sound like it's a bunch of white supremacists. Maybe those types exist, but they're not the norm.
Also, you seem to be forgetting that the failures of the american education system especially apply in impoverished areas, and that recruiters systematically groom and poach students before they even turn 18, using every psychological trick in the book and filling them full of as many promises as they think they want to hear.
Chances are, most people who enlist at 17 or 18 don't know enough about the US's "foreign wars" to realize how deeply unjust those wars have been.
Calling them all nazis is fucking ignorant. It's not like they're ICE, who signed up specifically to violently round up and deport brown people while enjoying impunity for all their crimes up to and including extrajudicial public executions.
Good luck winning your class war if you're going around calling every veteran a fascist though. Most of them are getting fucked over by this regime as hard as anyone else. You wouldn't last a fucking day in a real war.
PRIMEcavitationfetishist@quokk.au · 1 pts · 18d

They're trying to change that. Have been for a while, and the biden admin didn't revert.

Story for the late reply.
Where is the hostility between the US and, say, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, Jordania or Saudi?
I can understand occupation in Iraq and Syria. But even there local leaders (like the kurds) don't seem hostile.

It seems entirely possible, to me, that you’re running off of state propaganda sources and not objective reality nor history.
Maybe take a visit to your local library, where you can read all about it!
Seriously, though, stop eating all those bullshit sandwiches, this isn’t even worth arguing with.

(Un)fortunately my library is a pretty big place so telling me to go there will just result in me going home with another Star Wars book that is hardly helpful here. (Or worse yet: More state propaganda!) So can you maybe point me on some, in your opinion, good material? Thanks.
NotASharkInAManSuit@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 13d
Google is your friend, looking into the military and political history of the U.S. and the various countries of the middle east and the military operations we’ve pulled over there. There are very few, if any, regions in the middle east that the U.S. hasn’t intentionally destabilized or politically infiltrated and sabotaged to achieve whatever our goal was at any given time, usually oil. It’s less that they are accepting and welcoming of America and more that they know that cooperation on their end will lead to less bombs on their schools and hospitals. We are a merciless imperial force, not a welcomed ally.
Check out Operation Ajax and just how much America has been involved in forced military ran regime changes of governments around the world, most of our destabilization efforts are focused on the middle east due to their crude oil supplies.

Why would you ever join the military? Especially after the Epstein files came out what kinda idiots are these people
Etzello@midwest.social · 1 pts · 18d
Let's be fair that some people do it for personal honour, their family's honour and/or they like doing it, or any other reason, doesn't necessarily have to be for the country or the leaders. I don't work because I love my CEO, I do it to make a living and at least I make a living doing something I don't hate. My CEO just happens to benefit from it and likewise, the country's leaders also benefit
deft@lemmy.wtf · 1 pts · 18d
To me, I can't accept that.
Being any part of any military expresses an ignorance about what militaries exist for and what your job is, to basically be a dog of the state. In this era choosing to be in the military says you're a dog of the state choosing to have one piece of shit owner.
Joining up either expresses the heaviest level of "fuck them I'll get mine" mentality or straight up drank the Kool aid and just fill ignorance that can't be by passed. One can no longer act like they don't know what the American military does.
To me anyone who has joined the military since 9/11 is a fool and complicit with cruelness. Anyone who has joined up since Trump took office over a decade ago is just beyond a braindead idiot.

It's hard to empathise, but it's the regime we hate, not the pawns. I hope they get some fuel cards to take the sting out of being maimed for whatever this mess is. Many US service people are in the forces simply to try get a leg up in their society. It's the bait the government dangles in front of the young and poor.

Under law, they are considered combatants, so I am not sure what your point is.
Most people in the Military of either side of a conflict are not there by choice, but by limited options and circumstances.
If they had the option of joining a WPA style public works program instead, they would.
mrdown@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 18d
I don't care about excuses. Limited options and circonstances do not the change the fact they either went to kill or assist the killers in killing the iranians civilians so yes every injured or dead soldiers man more chance to save iranians civlians. Everything is in context. The context we are talking about is the war of aggression on iran so in that context the Iranian army is the good side and the usa army the bad side. It similar to how the allies was the good guy in the world war 2 and the axis the bad guys despite the allies having colonies and killing resistance in the colonized countries
PRIMEcavitationfetishist@quokk.au · 0 pts · 19d
No. The irgc (dunno about their regular army) are the shitty assholes who were killing their own civilians for water riots. That's not good guys. Not under any conditions.
Then the Americans decided that was their job, and also blew up all the desalination plants, and also school children. There are no good guys here. Just pieces of absolute subhuman shit killing each other and innocent people who are so fucked.
I'm here to mock the pieces of shit who end up in my city when they come back missing pieces.

Nice strawman you got there.
The main difference is that dehumanisation is the very core of fascism. The moment you defend human dignity is conditional you accept their main premise.
NotASharkInAManSuit@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 19d
No, authoritarianism is the core of fascism. Anyone attempting to force their will onto others by force can fuck themselves to death, they don’t deserve the considerations they actively refuse to others, I will not treat them as people, I did not strip that from them, they actively gave up their humanity. Stop blaming others for that behavior, blame the fucking perpetrators.
Your faux humanitarianism rhetoric is just the propaganda of pacifism, which is something these specific fucking nazis specifically added to the social programming. You are delivering a rhetoric made by these fucks to protect these fucks from you. Wake up. I’m not the one arguing a straw man.

Many of them are brainwashed by parents and are ignorant of world affairs. The recruiters get to them when they are 17. Many regret it later, and that's why the suicide rates in the military are high. Teenagers make incredibly poor decisions. I get what you're saying, but have some compassion. The enemy are the folks who own media and profit from it, not the ignorant masses.
EldritchFeminity@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 1 pts · 19d
17? Many schools have recruiters walking the halls long before that. Plenty of these kids were getting talked up in the hallway at 15 and had recruiters calling their cellphones unprovoked or stalking them to their homes using personal information they got from the schools.
