The latest pizza topping that will blow your mind

If you thought that pineapple on pizza was a bit weird, you won't believe what the latest pizza topping fad is - acorns! The crunchy topping with the nutty flavour is perfect for pizza, and since its debut at the prestigious Windy Frog restaurant in the culinary capital of the UK, Slough, it has taken the country by storm.

Autumn is the time of year to collect fresh acorns and add them to your pizza, or simply bake them for 10 minutes at 200 degrees C, and have them as a delicious side dish.

With the supermarket Waitrose bringing its line off acorn pizzas to the shelves soon, now is the time to try the nutty goodness for yourself!

I just tried this the other day and it was really good.

The nuttyness had a savory taste i did not expect from the acorns. I would describe it as a mix of nuttyness and fresh mushrooms. Add just a little bit of mustard on top for a tangy twist if you feel like it.

People have told me that acorn pizza pairs well with a glass of pickle brine, but I have not had the time to verify this myself.

I can really recommend trying acorns on your pizza if you want to try something new and tasty!

That looks great!

My grandmother had a recipe from Bologna: It said to soak the acorns in vinegar for an hour first and then season them with basil and salt. Which really brought out some rich flavours.
