People used to do this shit a lot when I was a kid. We had to ride through all the trails looking for rope and wire to make sure they were clear before playing around.

People are assholes and we were on property we had permission to ride on. Neighbor took it upon themselves to deter us from being there. I remember a guy that was probably in his '70s came out yelling at us when we were taking down a piece of 2 pair phone wire he had put up between some trees. He told us to ride to the police station and he was going to follow us. We just took off instead. I told my parents about it and took them back there and pointed out the house. My mom went down to the police station to complain, we never heard anything else from that guy or had any more wire show up in that location.
We found everything from fairly thick rope, phone wire, electric fence wire, clothesline, a foam block the size of a refrigerator, all kinds of stuff.

We have to do this on mountain bike trails. People also spread roofing nails. Fat miserable fucks that don't want anyone to be happy.
