Not just expensive, but also impossible to get timely appointments. Worse for those that dont have flexible schedules.
Family has moderately okay insurance. We already met our OOP max a couple months ago. Its literally free at this point for me to go to the doctor....
but what's this? Oh, the only appointments are 3 months out from now? Oh and you dont book appointments that far out? Oh, so I need to try and call back next month and try again then? Cool. Coolcoolcool.
Guess Ill just fucking die.

After 15 or so years without insurance _ I finally have it. Registered at a doc because only one that supports making appointments online. Two weeks before first visit the doctors closed. On well .. made it to 56 at least. Good old USA

I feel this. I didn't have insurance from 19 to 35. Now, I have insurance, but the nearest doctor taking patients is over an hour away.

Not that this makes it a non-issue, but it is mostly specialist and new patient appointments which take that long to schedule. If you have a regular primary Care provider, they can usually get you in reasonably quickly. I say this as somebody who has experienced way too many doctors in my life.
