I've seen it and it was amazing, the photos don't do it justice, truly incredible.

Meh, it's just an eclipse. We've had one too when I was a kid and it was nothing special. I'm happy for those that enjoyed it, but idk, it feels weird to have so many people texting the thing. I prefer to take a picture of a plant and no one goes crazy for it.

Idk.

is it really "incredible" though?

kopasz7@sh.itjust.works · 13 pts · 24d (11 replies)

It is quite incredible that the Sun and the Moon have the same apparent size and being in the right place at the right time I can just look at the Sun's corona.

not "incredible", i would say, but serendipitous.

also "The Moon is spiraling away from Earth at an average rate of 3.8 cm (1.5 in) per year, as detected by the Lunar Laser Ranging experiment."

is it also incredible that you have 5 fingers on your hand? It may even be incredible that you have a hand.

kopasz7@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 19d (5 replies)

Not really, most humans have those features most of the time. That is statistically normal.

Yet one location will have hundreds of millions of minutes pass by like the rest and only have an eclipse for a one or two.

Or are you seeing eclipses every day?

Or are you seeing eclipses every day?

yes and that's what i would comfortably call "incredible".

Like the ESA reporter said. Imagine in ancient times how much panic this must have brought!
