My dad is involved with a volunteer group for similar emergency radio coordination in the Fort Ross area (in northwest Sonoma County). I don't think they've gotten into the mesh protocols yet.

Nice, sounds like something his volunteer group should consider if they haven't already. The little bit that I've read and see about mesh protocols sounds like it would be awesome for emergency situations.
