My sibling is currently trying to get their first job after graduating and it makes me so glad I got lucky and was hired on the spot during my first interview. They're currently on their 3rd round just because there were so many candidates
I got lucky when a friend told me there was a hiring fair at his company. Hundreds of people showed up and were interviewed one after the other in quick succession. A single panel interview of two engineers was all it took to be hired on the spot.
Sadly this company's stopped doing that and is following the pack with multi stage interviews and presentations like everybody else in the industry. It's such an inefficiencient and expensive system.
@Jomiran. 1990, I saw position advertised in the job centre. Made a call, I got invited in for a chat, had the chat. Hired. Laboratory technician with a blue chip multinational. I had a few GCSEs, and one A-level. They only employ graduates now, after multiple rounds of interviews. I remember some of the questions in the chat. Why is the sky blue? If you're in a boat, on a pond, carrying a rock. If you throw the rock overboard, does the level of the pond go up or down? I moved up through the ranks to principal scientist. I'm employed at a university now.
I have been working since 1997 and I had many jobs before I started my own company. Never have I ever gone through an interview process where I got the job after a single interview.

I worked for a team at a company that bragged about having like 5 stages of interviews. I should have known. This was two decades ago.
