Kennedy Center board votes to inscribe Trump's name on building

Aug 13 (Reuters) - The board of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts voted on Thursday to add an inscription bearing President Donald Trump's name to the building's exterior, according to Democratic ‌U.S. Representative Joyce Beatty, a move that could set up a clash with a federal judge who previously ordered his name removed from the facade.

"In its meeting today, the board voted to change the front of the building’s facade to read 'The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Restored and Renovated By President Donald J. Trump,' and renamed the physical site 'the President Donald J. Trump Plaza,'" said Beatty, an ex officio member on the center's board.

A second source with knowledge of the situation confirmed the decision.

The New York Times, citing a resolution, reported earlier on Thursday "that the center desires to recognize and honor President Trump’s existential and unprecedented contributions to the survival of the center by all legal means."

The board - dominated by Trump loyalists - also voted to close the Kennedy Center for two years, according to ‌Beatty, who sued the Trump administration and the center over what she called an unlawful name change and the planned closure.

Even calling the board “Trump loyalists” is an understatement. Trump hand-picked the board members, has the ability to remove them if they step out of line, and installed himself as chairman of the board. The board is a bunch of puppets, with Trump’s tiny baby hands shoved all the way up their asses.

I don't understand why him being chairman is legally allowed and not questioned more often by everyone with a functioning brain

Because, as blatant as it is, it's like 200 on the list of heinous corruption he's guilty of.

Because our government is built upon the assumption we wouldn't elect authoritarian narcissists to lead the nation.

I want the next President to sweep every mention of Trump off of everything he's built and attached his name to - UNLESS - he actually paid for it with HIS OWN money.

If the TAXPAYERS pay for this shit, it should be named after the most beautiful geographic landmarks in our country and not that prick.

Step further: remove Trump from every building even if he paid for it and/or got financed for it. Do to the Trump legacy what the Germans did to the Nazis, ban all symbolism.

It goes back much further into ancient Egypt.

I am totally okay with doing this but he needs a catchy nickname to replace it in history. So that his actions can be taught about but not have the fame that Hitler enjoys.

Even better, remove him from the building through a window on the highest floor

Start with the lowest building and work up until done

Fuck that, when he's gone nationalize all companies of his, as that was American taxpayers money that made them worth anything. That includes kusher and Trump's horrible offspring.

Didn't he pretty much destroyed it? They lost most of their performers and show goers. What a crock of shit. L

They saved it from liberal performers and any performers with ethics.

They just can't seem to take a hint, can they?

DrakeAlbrecht@lemmy.world · 21 pts · 1d

Oh, they sure can.

We made it clear that we'll pay attention to what they do to the Kennedy Center.

So they're doing it again.

So that we won't pay attention to the things they actually care about.

If we ever get through all of this we are gonna need a purge.

Start it tomorrow and ensure we do get through it.

Would love to see someone in Congress introduce legislation that forbids anything with attached federal dollars be named after or reference by name any individual found guilty of rape in a criminal or civil court case. That would of course take care of Trump getting anything with his name on it, but just actually also makes sense.

It wouldn't pass currently of course, but I want them to have to explain why they voted to stick a rapist's name on things that belong to the public.

Imagine being this much of a pathetic bootlicker to Trump. Or being such an insecure fragile-egoed man-baby.

When will they start building the NASCAR track and bringing in the mechanical bulls?

Everyone who voted for that ought to be immediately jailed for contempt of court.
