The magic of ActivityPub is connecting one with the other. In a non-ActivityPub application scenario, you cannot think of connecting Reddit and Facebook/Twitter seamlessly. Yet in the Fediverse, this is not a limitation. For example, I can send a message to @arindams_community
And anyone viewing this message can send a comment back to me about it. Think about it. Can you connect Reddit/Quora from Facebook/Twitter in similar ways? No.

It is indeed magical, particularly the two different applications connecting over the web seamlessly across the divide. This transcends application boundaries thanks to the underlying ActivityPub protocol. The point is to keep mentioning the handles to keep the conversation flowing @arin_basu@mastodon.social

Just a heads up, the people on "reddit knockoffs" tend to find being tagged pretty annoying.

Thank you for this note. I should have been clear in what I meant. The idea was to test if I could post from lenmy and read it on mastodon. But when I wrote it, I did not realise that as you say, it can be annoying to get tagged. Nor is it necessary as posts show up as people follow communities on other instances. So thank once more.
