Literally everyone and their dog has had this thought. I remember Linus talking about it on the WAN show when it still was an initialism. Hell, it was an idea even back when the Terminator came out.
The patent is either worthless or much more narrow than described
I vaguely remember seeing a video of someone modifying a taser to be an EMP using coil wire. IIRC it needs to be close to the target, almost touching it to be effective. At that point, if you have a taser and want to deal some numbers on the creep, just tase them and stomp the glasses.
I'm going to say this: I don't think all the data centres being put up are for public llm use. I think they're for AI surveillance networks. No need to use mobile phones or cards when you can have an AI spot someone from CCTV camera footage.
Are there any non-pervert glasses? Like no camera but with built in ear buds and ability to show notifications on your glasses? Like a smartwatch but in your glasses with earbud built in.
Eh, I could see microphone since it's now common to see people walking around with ear buds that all have microphones. That way I can make a phone call using the glasses. And like a heads up display with the time, count of messages waiting for reading/response, what ever other notifications.
Like imagine if a hypoglycemic person gets a notification right in their field of view. Before it effects their mood or bodily functions, when blood sugar is below a certain point "go eat something, current blood sugar is x". You can get these apps on your phone but you gotta check your phone. It's better than years ago where you needed constant blood draws to check every few hours but could be improved.
Maybe an alarm system to pops up "appointment with doctor in 45 minutes, leave soon to arrive on time". Now you can do it on your phone, but you can miss it if your not constantly checking your phone. The current solution is a smart watch but it would be better directly in your glasses.
None of this requires Ai. None of this requires a camera.
A cool thing about capitalism is how somebody can take a really obvious idea, get the state to endorse their "ownership" of this idea, and use the violence of the state to control the idea for decades or centures...

It's from the olden days of Google Glass. The Meta glasses aren't even the original pervert glasses.

Forgot about those.

There is so much obvious prior art that should invalidate this, from multiple sci-fi franchises.

normal fucking glasses
vrek@programming.dev · 5 pts · 18d
Yeah but they don't have any of the other features I listed. Like I want a smart watch and earpods built into sunglasses with no camera.

regular sun glasses. almost any "smart glasses" that come out would require an account of some sort.
