The Xbox is softmodded and the video is set to 480i non-widescreen. Any idea why it might not be outputting? What I see is the intended output on my 4k tv, but the CRT is a 45° slanted, scrolling, monochrome image that's heavily warped. My first though was that the softmod had something to do with it, but I've seen this question asked before without any answers.

https://gbatemp.net/threads/pal-ntsc-video-output-on-softmod-xbox-i-dont-get-it.355580/ maybe it's whatever this is. Without knowing more about the softmod, it's hard to say where the setting is.

I have it set to NTSC, but I tried every option just to be safe. It's the Rocky5 mod

Any chance it's set to PAL output? That would be ok with the framemeister but not with your NTSC television.

No, it's set to NTSC

Is there a way to see the current input resolution on the framemeister? Maybe it says it's 480i in the settings but it's actually forcing 480p. I found multiple threads about that when I googled rocky5 and component cables.

This sounds like it's actually outputting 480p despite the 480i setting. Can you verify the resolution with the framemeister or a different display?
If you launch a game, is the picture still garbled in-game? It could potentially be a difference between softmod menu and game resolution

Turns out that games play fine, but the menus are illegible. Maybe there's a fix for the system menus? Or maybe I can undo the mod, I only modded to get otherwise unreachable DLC
