What's this then? Song of the "weekend"? Yeah, I didn't post one yesterday. Wasn't feeling it. So we get a "song of the weekend". It's not an excuse, it's a swerve. When I draw a blank, I open one of my decades playlists (80s, 90s, 00s, or 10s) — usually one of the first three — and skip until something resonates with me. And I never skip Stevie Wonder. I'm not a huge fan of the guy, but this song just nails what I love about 1980s music. You got the pop, you got the synth, and you got R&B, his main jam — though, I'd argue 1990s R&B was peak R&B. I'm sure some will fight me on that. I'm not a big R&B fan, but 90s R&B just hits differently, and I'm here for it. This isn't 1990s though. The description on YouTube says 1984, and that sounds right. Yeah, this was popular music 42 years ago, and if it never released that year, and instead it released this year, I hope it would resonate with listeners like it did nearly half a century ago.
Likewise, if you never heard this before — especially the synth part around 4:20 in — you're in for a real treat here.
These days, we make jokes about Stevie Wonder's blindness, but we don't talk nearly enough about how good of a musician he is. Let's change that, if only for today.

Confession time: ages ago when I was 18, I had this as my ringtone for several months. Not just for a specific person, for all my calls.
Just in case anyone wondered whether I was (and am) a huge fucking dork 😄
