Not very surprising, he's had a long season and many victories, and why go to the WC and the Canadian races when Pog is there? All he will get is shit from the press.
No, but I don't think they alone would make it worth riding that part of the season. Vingegaard has 51 racedays already, and we saw at the Euros last year what happens when he's not 100%.

Indeed, he looked like he had signed at Wagner-Bazin ๐
But last year, he was coming from the Tour of Spain just after a full Tour of France, and was just extending his end-of-season a little bit, and against his will. This year, he obviously won't be coming from the Vuelta, so he could have planned for a small set of one-day races in the latest part of the season after 2 months without competition. It wouldn't make his racing days counter grow much (you need like 3-4 weeks of one-day races to reach the same number of racing days you get in a '1-week' stage race). It is not as demanding or pressuring as preparing for a stage race: not only have you got plenty of rest days between racing days, but you are allowed to fail or even go to the bus on one or two of those races, and still win or perform on another; so there is no constant physical nor psychological pressure.
It looks more like he never wants to go through the whole (blood) training camps just for one-day races.

I think that's true, I don't think he particularly wants to add races to his calendar for the hell of it and because we'd like to see him go. I think he likes to stick to his plans and likes his time off, which I can understand. He's a quiet family man and he's done his job well this year.

Pog isn't going to Canadian races unless something makes him leave the Vuelta early.
