Yesterday, we got the sad news that ZZ Top's drummer, Frank Beard, passed away. Watch any ZZ Top video, or just know the first thing about the band, and you know that the two guys up front have long, epic Viking-like beards. That guy on the drum kit who is clean shaven? That's Frank Beard. The guy named Beard doesn't have one. The other two — Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill — do. It's weird. What's almost equally weird was that Supercuts once offered them $10 million USD to shave them on camera for an ad. Supercuts isn't around anymore, and I doubt ZZ Top could have saved them.
The other interesting thing I know about ZZ Top is, they love hot rods. So does James Hetfield, vocalist and rhythm guitarist of Metallica. But Billy Gibbons, in particular, drives what has got to be the coolest hot rod I've ever seen. I'm not actually sure it's a hot rod. I'm not too familiar with the exact definition. I won't fight car guys on this. I'm also not sure he drives it. He may just have it in his garage. Anyway, what started out as a 1948 Cadillac is now called "CadZZilla," and it even has a license plate which reads, "I8TOKYO." Even if you're Japanese, I think you gotta love this car. Here's what it looks like, as well as some more information about it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CadZZilla
