We can get an email address for that person, help you email and add them to your list safely.

I don't think this individual understands the meaning of the word "safely"

We partnered with publisher networks for the identity info, which we capture and transfer to our customers. We’re the middleman.

I love how surveillance capitalism has ensured that nobody in the surveillance pipeline is responsible for their own behavior. (Earlier they said they used tracking pixels on various sites before they switched to just Shopify, so I do hold this person responsible)

typically, the brand (our customer) gets one email daily from somebody asking, “Dude, why am I on this list?”

If they get mad, we show them the date in the URL of where they opted into the publisher network. That shuts them up.

I don't understand how anybody who's annoyed with spam would be satisfied with that answer either. I'd want to know which shop it was, and how to avoid them.

If the guy was serious about reputation appearance, he'd have bought retention.co.jp which requires:

a Japan registered company
have an established office
have a permanent residency visa or G'd forbid, a Japanese partner.
may have only one .co.jp domain
it should be close to your company name

Anyone and their mother can own a .com domain name. Which is exactly what happened in this case.

This is a dual edged sword. If i can make bots have to accept everyone else can too.

We are in a privacy forum. I believe this guy would be called, "a cat".

It is the mouse's job to neutralize the effectiveness of the cat.

Bitching about it just makes you a bitch. It solves nothing. Is this is a problem that you're willing to spend months on? If not, but you bitch anyways, that says more about you than that guy's business or character.
