That's what we used to think but then this article came out and changed everything we thought we knew about the relationship between sharks and Earth's largest satellite. Sharks are, according to the article, the most lunarly attuned fish. Hammerhead sharks have been observed exhibiting behavior that is suggestive of an ability to predict eclipses. These sharks care enough about the moon to line their burrows with shells oriented along the path the moon takes through the sky.
For that to make sense wouldn't a week need to be 7.3826475 days long? Maybe add a leap day every two weeks, except every 8th, but do every 128th, skip every 5120th...

The female bonnethead shark (a hammerhead species) is capable of asexual reproduction, no male needed.

You don't need to wait for full moon, you just need a shark and two pieces of bread.

"Under" the full moon means nothing other than "when there happens to be a full moon". Sharks don't understand or care about the full moon.

From what I can understand, it provides them light that they use to hunt at night.

Humans also do that, both the handful of remaining hunter-gatherers and militaries. This is also why week is 7 days long (1/4 of lunar month)

They just added leap days based on observation

Almost every two weeks? I've never heard of a week system like that.

They added leap days when it mattered for nighttime hunting and stopped doing that when they settled
From what i remember anyway, it was a long time ago

How do you know? Did you ask them?
