Speaking of Skywind I just recently played some Morrowind—for the first time since experiencing modded Skyrim— and suddenly it seems to me like combining the two could be the greatest idea in video game history.

Yus indeed. Skyrim's engine is obviously not the cutting edge of game tech (nor was it at launch, honestly) but it still represents a huge leap forward in terms of what's possible to do with a game -- not to mention the wider horizons in terms of modding and customization.
