Also cool is that Maxfield Parrish only created three murals! Two of them were commissioned for fancy hotels and the third is this glass mural, executed by Louis Comfort Tiffany.

If you’re ever in San Francisco, California, Maxfield Parrish’s The Pied Piper is hanging in the bar of the Palace hotel. The bar shares the name of the painting, and I thought the hotel lobby itself was worth visiting. I’d heard about the painting but never gone, and someone I worked with said “oh, we need to go.”

It’s a huge, beautiful painting. Probably his masterpiece, genuinely captivating and worth seeing in person. It’s estimated to be worth $3-5 million, restored somewhat recently, and it’s right there behind the bar.

I didn’t know about the Philadelphia one!! I was like “wait, that’s the Pied Piper guy!” Haha
