That's right. Because Canada is just charging us 2X or more for Heavy Crude. We need their oil more than they need anything from us.

SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca · 7 pts · 19d

Alberta crude is selling $16 below the US WTI standard. US heavy crude is record high because the US drained its reserves.

That’s a whole bunch of GenAI passing babble for “I was wrong as fuck and Canada, does in fact, have an independent military.”

Canada and other Commonwealth countries also have security and defence partnerships with the EU. Though they were signed only last year so it might be outside the training data of the model you’re using.

Why do I get the feeling that’s either a tankie account or an IA account?

Buffalox@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 19d (3 replies)

It's an AI tankie account. 🤣

adespoton@lemmy.ca · 6 pts · 19d (2 replies)

IA as in the Russian disinfo factory.

A_norny_mousse@piefed.zip · 4 pts · 19d

The Internet Research Agency, aka Putin's Troll Factory, St. Petersburg.

CTDummy@piefed.social · 1 pts · 19d

Agreed, same vibe I get. Going around stirring shit to incite more friction between countries.

Buffalox@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 19d (1 reply)

Diplomatically, Canada is at a greater disadvantage than other countries.

WTF propaganda do you get your info from?
Canada is one of the diplomatically strongest most independent countries in the world, because they are well respected basically everywhere. And they have made multiple big trade agreements, that make them stronger yet.

This is probably the most uninformed post I've ever seen here on Lemmy! And I'm a daily user for more than 3 years.
It really puzzles me how anyone can be this misinformed, without being a troll?

Not do much anymore. Sorry it isn't early 2000s anymore.

healthetank@lemmy.ca · 10 pts · 19d

Lmfao this is hilarious.

Canada has complex separatist movements within the country, making it difficult to effectively restrict unilateral negotiations to the realm of state-to-state relations. Its provinces have a certain ability to bypass the federal government and engage in multilateral negotiations with the United States

Just what?? Sure, you're using your three-dollar words, but in no way can Canadian provinces reach out to the US directly for trade agreements. The one province that's historically had separatist movements has entirely shelved it until this is done, and Alberta's separatist movement is a foreign-funded mess that the RCMP are investigating for foreign interference.

Dunno if you heard but our missile stockpiles are depleted, soldier moral is low, we can't seem to plan more than two days in advance, and we're having trouble toppling a government whose military budget is probably less than 5% what ours is. A dude on a camel with a rocket launcher could give us a run for our money.

I meant Afghanistan, but thought I was being clever.

Stay in school, you obviously need it.
