Personally I'm hoping for less rampant use of AI due to realistic token costs. If it's expensive to use, it won't be shoved into everything. And if it's expensive to use, hopefully that also means it'll only be used in places that it actually makes a positive difference.

Yes, the performative burning of carbon for tokens must stop. Managers are already realizing that human brains are still more efficient for many tasks. Large language models are impressive regarding how much information they can parse and synthesize via language, but it's a dead end in terms of achieving real intelligence.

That the rich will be left holding the bag rather than the poor, though they will probably be bailed out. So I guess I'll be unemployed but able to build a gaming PC really cheaply to keep myself occupied
