Michigan searches for geologic hydrogen, untapped clean energy source with "great potential"

The state of Michigan will invest $7.5 million in seed money in looking for deposits of geologic hydrogen. The carbon-free gas can be formed deep underground under the right conditions, and those conditions may exist in Michigan.
