Guess that is kind of like how finnish's closest relative linguistically is Hungarian and they can in no way understand each other.

Ooh, nice one! Not unlike my curiosity upon where the hell the Basque language came from, anyway.
Now, according to a quick search, Finnish & the Magyar language seem to have split around 4-4,500yrs ago? That's a BOATLOAD of time, though.
Almost like trying to relate wildly-different languages from the Indo-European language group, right..?
